The Delhi Police on Thursday arrested and deported an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant in ongoing crackdown.
The Bangladeshi citizen, Mohammad Bablu, was arrested in the Vasant Kunj area where he was residing without any proper documentation. Subsequently, the police deported him back to Bangladesh with the help of the Foreigners Registration Office (FRRO).
With this latest arrest, the Delhi Police have now arrested and deported at least 30 illegal Bangladeshi migrants in the last three days.
The series of arrests is part of a two-month verification drive launched by the Delhi Police to identify and deport illegal migrants, following Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s directive for the same.
This arrest comes a day after the Delhi Police identified and deported 11 other illegal Bangladeshi migrants.
In a major breakthrough, the police also busted a gang responsible for providing Aadhar cards and other government identification cards based on fake documents to illegal immigrants residing in Delhi. Four members of the gang, including two Bangladeshi citizens, have been arrested.
After investigating the accused, the Delhi Police revealed that the gang used a fake website to issue fake birth certificates and other government identification cards to illegal migrants.
On December 29, 2024, the Delhi Police detained and deported a group of eight Bangladeshi nationals, staying at Delhi’s Rangpuri area without any proper documentation.
On probing the eight Bangladeshis, Jahangir, who was part of the group, revealed how he used unofficial routes to enter India and subsequently brought his wife and their six children along with him using false identities.
On December 27, 2024, Delhi Police, upon raiding slums, labour camps and unauthorised colonies in south Delhi, arrested and deported seven other Bangladeshi nationals, including five women.
After preliminary investigations, it was found that the seven Bangladeshi citizens got into India illegally and were staying in Gurugram’s Rajeev Nagar. After verifying their mobile phone numbers and documents, the police confirmed that they were citizens of Bangladesh, reported news agency PTI.
