Toxic advance booking box office update: Kannada superstar Yash is gearing up for his much-awaited return to the big screen with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, and the buzz around the film is already turning into big numbers. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the action thriller hits theatres on August 26 and has managed to create a strong box office buzz even before its release. The advance bookings for India opened on August 21 and it has taken the pre-sales by storm.
Toxic advance booking
According to the trade tracker Sacnilk, the detailed report reveals that the advance booking for opening day has been huge, with Toxic already crossing the ₹24 crore mark. The film has sold 6,48,511 tickets across 14,270 shows, bringing in ₹24.51 crore gross.
Karnataka and Hindi markets lead the advance
Karnataka, Yash’s home turf, is leading the advance booking numbers. The Kannada and Hindi versions are almost neck-and-neck, with the Hindi 2D version slightly ahead at ₹11.21 crore, while Kannada 2D has collected ₹10.99 crore. The premium formats are also adding to the numbers, with Kannada IMAX 2D contributing more than ₹71 lakh and Hindi IMAX 2D bringing in nearly ₹29 lakh.
The demand has been so strong that theatres are stretching their show timings to accommodate the crowds. Mumbai is seeing especially heavy interest, with some theatres starting screenings as early as 6:00 am and running shows till 11:45 pm and even 11:59 pm. Ticket prices have also shot up at several premium properties. In parts of Mumbai and Bengaluru, the most expensive tickets are reportedly going for as much as ₹2,250.
Yash on criticism towards women characters
At the pre-release event on Saturday, Yash addressed the crowd about the criticism towards the characters of women in the trailer. “Society… they may say, they may not accept it but the point is everybody will look upon you. I am not respected for my money, I am respected for my work, and I know the director will prove that every woman and every girl can face every kind of situation, express their thoughts, express their vision and succeed in this society,” he said.
He further urged girls to watch the film in theatres, saying, “There’s a voice for women in this film, unlike how it is coming across in the trailer. Watch the movie and enjoy. All you girls, you will have a blast.”
Yash returns in a dual role
Toxic marks Yash’s return to the big screen, with the actor taking on a dual role as Raya and Ticket. The film features a strong ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. It is also gearing up for a massive worldwide release, with the film expected to hit around 12,000 screens.
