Samsung may have quietly given away one of the biggest features of its next flagship even before the phone is officially announced. In a new teaser talking about “a new layer of privacy,” the company has strongly hinted at a major display upgrade that is widely expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. With Samsung now speaking openly about the feature, the launch of the Galaxy S26 series no longer feels far away.

The teaser focuses on a common modern problem about using your phone in public places. Samsung says its upcoming solution will help users check messages, type passwords, or open private apps without worrying about strangers looking over their shoulders. While the company does not mention the Galaxy S26 Ultra by name, the wording closely matches multiple leaks that have pointed to a built-in privacy screen feature coming to Samsung’s next Ultra phone.

Samsung teases Galaxy S26 Ultra with a new Privacy Screen feature; launch seems imminent

Unlike traditional privacy screen protectors that permanently reduce viewing angles, Samsung’s solution is software-driven and deeply integrated into the display itself. This allows it to work in a far more controlled and flexible way. According to Samsung, users will be able to decide exactly when the privacy feature turns on, rather than being forced to use it all the time.

The company says the feature can be activated only for specific apps or triggered when entering sensitive information in certain areas of the phone. This means everyday tasks like scrolling social media or watching videos won’t be affected, while activities such as banking, password entry, or reading private messages can automatically get extra protection.

More importantly, Samsung is not limiting privacy protection to the entire screen. The teaser and accompanying visuals show that only selected parts of the display, such as notification pop-ups, can be masked. This is a major change from earlier assumptions that the privacy mode would darken or blur everything on screen once enabled.

In one of Samsung’s teaser videos, only a single notification is hidden from side angles, while the rest of the display remains fully visible. The company itself describes this as a “tailored approach,” allowing users to fine-tune how much of the screen is protected or turn the feature off completely when it’s not needed.

This level of control sets Samsung’s approach apart from existing solutions. Physical privacy screen protectors usually come with compromises like reduced brightness, dull colours, and poor visibility, even when privacy isn’t required. By building the technology directly into the OLED panel, Samsung appears to be avoiding those drawbacks.

Leaks suggest that when Privacy Display is active, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s screen will become difficult to read from side angles, while staying sharp and bright when viewed straight on. The feature is also expected to work on a per-app basis, automatically switching on for sensitive apps like digital wallets or password managers.

Galaxy S26 Ultra is tipped to offer 10-bit OLED display

Now, Samsung may finally be preparing another long-awaited leap. According to recent reports, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feature a native 10-bit OLED display. This would be a meaningful improvement over the 8-bit panels used in previous Galaxy Ultra phones, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

To put the difference into perspective, 8-bit displays can show around 16.7 million colours, while a native 10-bit panel supports more than 1.07 billion colours. In the past, Samsung relied on a technique called Frame Rate Control to simulate these extra colours by rapidly switching between shades. While effective, the method was never perfect.

If the Galaxy S26 Ultra does arrive with a true 10-bit panel, it should deliver smoother colour transitions and reduce colour banding—those visible lines that sometimes appear in gradients like blue skies or sunset photos. For users who care about photography, video streaming, and overall display quality, this could be a noticeable upgrade.

Taken together, the privacy display and potential colour depth improvements suggest that Samsung is focusing heavily on display innovation with its next flagship. With official teasers already live and key features starting to surface, the company appears to be entering the final phase before launch.

Samsung Galaxy S26 series launch date (leaked)

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series at an Unpacked event in late February, with February 25 or 26 currently tipped as the most likely dates. If the teasers are any indication, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could arrive with one of the most advanced and user-controlled smartphone displays Samsung has ever shipped.
