Move over marathon runners, a Chinese humanoid robot has just joined the record books for an extraordinary feat of endurance. The machine, called Agibot A2, walked an incredible 106.286 kilometres without human assistance, earning a Guinness World Record for the longest journey walked by a humanoid robot.
Between November 10 and November 13 , the robot trekked from Suzhou to Shanghai, covering highways, city streets, and crowded public spaces before arriving at the city’s scenic Bund waterfront. The journey took nearly three days, testing not only the robot’s stamina but also its ability to navigate real-world environments autonomously.
A robot that refused to stop walking
According to the Guinness World Records website, the Agibot A2 had undergone months of fine-tuning to prepare for the challenge. “The AgiBot A2 robot was optimised between April and May 2025 to avoid falling during hundreds of hours of continuous operation,” the site noted.
That preparation paid off. On August 17, the robot had already proved its endurance by completing a 24-hour fully autonomous walk in extreme temperatures nearing 40°C, streamed live online. But this 100-kilometre trek, Guinness said, “undoubtedly marks a significant breakthrough for the AgiBot A2 robot.”
Standing 1.75 metres (5.74 feet) tall and weighing around 55 kilograms, the Agibot A2 is equipped with AI-powered sensors that allow it to interpret text, audio, and visual information. During the record-setting walk, it relied on dual GPS modules, lidar, and infrared depth cameras to handle everything from shifting sunlight to unpredictable urban obstacles.
Remarkably, the A2 used for the event was a mass-produced commercial model, identical to the units already shipped to clients, meaning no special modifications were made to achieve the feat.

After crossing the finish line, the humanoid robot showed off a touch of personality. It reportedly told journalists the trek was a “memorable experience” in its “machine life” and joked that it might “need a new pair of shoes.”
The robot’s developer said the accomplishment represents a major step forward in balance control, hardware durability, and energy efficiency, all essential for future commercial use. “Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is difficult for many people to do in one go, yet the robot completed it,” the company said in a statement to the Global Times.
Beyond walking, the Agibot A2 can also engage in multilingual conversations, perform facial recognition, retain memory of past interactions, and handle autonomous guiding and delivery tasks. These capabilities are part of the company’s vision for humanoid robots that can assist in education, hospitality, logistics, and beyond.
By setting a record for the longest autonomous trek ever completed by a humanoid machine, Agibot A2 has done more than just take a long walk, it has demonstrated what could soon be possible for robots designed to work, move, and think alongside humans.
