At a live event in Brooklyn, New York, Google on Wednesday introduced the latest generation of its flagship devices – the Pixel 10 series – alongside the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a. And watching the show you could tell, that AI isn’t the only thing Google is throwing its money at. The company really invested in this year’s Pixel event. It was star-studded. The event was hosted by Jimmy Fallon. The opening montage of the event featured some big names in the west including podcaster Alexandra Cooper, NBA legend Steph Curry, F1 driver Lando Norris, golfer Bryson DeChambeau, and the Jonas Brothers, all “passing the phone” in a playful sequence. That’s not all. Celebrities weren’t just part of the spectacle; many joined live demos, from Cooper showcasing photo tools to Peloton’s Cody Rigsby testing the Pixel Watch 4.
Google has brought celebrities to its events before as well, but this year’s showcase took the star power to another level. However, the real stars of the show were still the Google hardware.

The Pixel 10 series
Google’s new smartphone lineup includes the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Pre-orders have already opened, with sales beginning later this month and into October depending on the model.
At first glance, the design of the Pixel 10 series is not radically different from last year’s Pixel 9 devices, although there are muted new colourways and a throwback Indigo shade reminiscent of the original Pixel’s “Really Blue”. The real headline change lies under the surface: support for Qi2 wireless charging.
Unlike Samsung’s Qi2-ready devices, Google has embedded magnets directly into the phones, aligning them more closely with Apple’s MagSafe system. This means Pixel users will now have access to a growing range of cross-compatible magnetic chargers, stands and accessories. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro Fold all support 15-watt Qi2 charging, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL takes things further with 25-watt support — enabling much faster top-ups.
Google is also introducing its own Qi2-certified accessory line, dubbed Pixelsnap. It includes chargers, stands, cases and a ring stand. Powering all four phones is the Tensor G5 chipset, which Google claims is 34 per cent faster than its predecessor. The chip handles more than 20 on-device AI experiences, driven by the Gemini Nano model. The new phones also debut Android’s Material 3 Expressive design language, promising smoother animations and a more fluid interface.
Pixel 10
Starting at Rs 79,999 in India, the standard Pixel 10 brings a major photographic upgrade: a 5X telephoto lens. This makes it one of the most affordable phones to feature true optical zoom. To keep the price accessible, however, Google has opted for smaller wide and ultrawide sensors compared to the Pixel 9.
The device has a brighter 6.3-inch display and improved speakers with richer bass. Google says its upgraded imaging pipeline, powered by the Tensor G5, will deliver better colour, texture and autofocus despite the smaller sensors.
Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL
The Pro models, priced at Rs 1,09,999 and Rs 1,24,999 respectively, continue with the same sensors as last year but add a new software trick: Pro Res Zoom. This feature allows up to 100X zoom using a combination of frame processing and generative AI to fill in missing detail.
Both Pro models can also shoot 8K video with Google’s Video Boost technology, which processes footage in the cloud for better brightness, stability and colour. Their displays reach higher brightness levels, while refresh rates scale between 1 and 120 Hz for better efficiency. The Pro XL uniquely supports 25-watt Qi2 charging, hitting 70 per cent in just 30 minutes with a 45-watt charger.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold
Google’s new foldable, priced at Rs 1,72,999, focuses on durability with IP68 water and dust resistance and a new gearless hinge design. This hinge reduces bezels on the 6.4-inch outer screen and improves drop performance. Google claims the Fold can last more than a decade of regular folding.
The inner 8-inch display supports advanced multitasking, including resizable split screens and drag-and-drop for images. However, the Fold lacks some high-end features found on the Pro XL, such as 8K video recording and Pro Res Zoom. It officially goes on sale on 9 October.
Software and AI features
Google has packed the new phones with AI-first experiences. Magic Cue can draft suggested responses in messages using details pulled from Gmail and other Google apps. Camera Coach provides real-time photography tips, while Google Photos can now edit images based on text prompts. Live voice translation during calls, a new journaling app called Pixel Journal, and gesture-based call controls further highlight Google’s AI ambitions.
Pixel Watch 4
The Pixel Watch 4, available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, introduces a focus on repairability. Owners will be able to replace batteries and screens through iFixit, addressing one of the biggest criticisms of past Pixel Watches.
The watch features a domed-glass display, brighter screen, faster processor, and improved charging, reaching 50 per cent in 15 minutes. It also adds hands-free voice activation with Gemini: simply raise your wrist to start speaking.
Prices begin at Rs 39,900 in India and rise to Rs 43,900 for LTE models. Preorders are live now, with shipping set for October 9.
Pixel Buds 2a
Google’s new Pixel Buds 2a are its most affordable wireless earbuds yet at Rs 12,999 in India. They are also the company’s smallest and lightest earbuds, featuring a new twist-to-fit stabiliser and improved acoustic design.
For the first time in Google’s budget earbuds, active noise cancellation is included. The Buds 2a are powered by the Tensor A1 chip and last seven hours with ANC on. The case provides 20 hours of total battery, though it does not support wireless charging. Importantly, the case battery is now replaceable.
The buds support Bluetooth multipoint and Google’s Find Hub app, making them easier to track if lost. Preorders are open, with official sales starting October 9.
Meanwhile, Pixel Buds Pro 2 users will receive a free software update in September adding Adaptive Audio, Loud Noise Protection and gesture-based call controls. A new Moonstone colour option arrives on August 28.
