Ranveer Singh is stepping up to redefine heroism and give the audience a social drama unlike any other with his upcoming film – ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’.
On Tuesday, the actor unveiled the trailer that is a mixed bag off emotions. Singh plays the role of Jayeshbhai, born into a political dynasty, in a society where men call all the shots. Tempers flare and circumstances become dire when Jayeshbhai’s wife, played by Shalini Pandey, becomes pregnant with what could be the couple’s second daughter.
Determined to be the dutiful husband and father, Jayeshbhai goes on the run with his family. When his wife, out of desperation asks him to leave her as she can’t give him a son, he says what “heroes” don’t often say… “Ladka, ya ladki, purush ke haat me hota hai. Aaj tak maine thuje ladka de paya? Nahi na? Toe us hisab se main mard nahi hu.”
Speaking about the film, Singh said, that his character will change the definition of heroism on the big screen and hopes that the audience will take back an important message.
“It will make people laugh, cry, ponder and feel really, really warm when they see a feel-good film whose hero is the most innocent and honest person that you have met in a long, long time,” he said in a statement.
During a short media conversation, the actor previously told ETimes, “Aisi picture hain, rulaygi nahi toh paisa wapas.”
Directed by Divyang Thakkar, the film that also stars Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in lead roles is all set to hit the screens on May 13.
The film was earlier scheduled to release in February. However, the release got pushed due to the Omicron outbreak.
