Apple has officially begun rolling out iOS 18.2, introducing a new set of features for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This update includes the second phase of Apple Intelligence, bringing advanced AI tools to a wider audience. One of the key highlights is the new Visual Intelligence feature, designed to enhance users’ experience with their devices. The new update is being rolled out to iPhone 16 series and other eligible smartphones. Here is everything to know.
In a significant move, Apple has extended AI functionalities to users in regions like the UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia, eliminating the need to switch to US English to access these tools. Although Apple Intelligence is currently only available for the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series, the iOS 18.2 update offers something for all users.
Among the new features is an upgrade to the Find My app, which now allows sharing AirTag locations with trusted contacts. Additionally, the Photos app has been revamped to enable fullscreen video playback, offering a more immersive experience.
One of the standout AI features is the Image Playground, which lets users create personalised images using themes, accessories, and even photos of family and friends. Another feature, Genmoji, allows users to generate customised emojis based on simple text descriptions, with options for further personalisation.
iOS 18.2 also brings improvements to Writing Tools with the “Describe Your Change” option, giving users more flexibility in enhancing their writing style. This tool can help users adjust the tone or wording of their text, whether they’re refining a resume or crafting creative invitations. Moreover, the integration of ChatGPT with Siri adds a new layer of AI support. Siri can now recommend using ChatGPT for specific tasks, including generating written content or images to assist with projects.
