A Haryana court has sent Nuh violence accused Bittu Bajrangi to one-day police custody, reported ANI. Bajrangi was arrested by Nuh Police on Tuesday after a case was registered against him and 15-20 others. Bajrang Dal member Bittu Bajrangi was arrested from his Faridabad residence in connection with the communal violence that broke out in Nuh during a religious yatra on July 31. The violence, which even spread to nearby Gurugram, claimed six lives, including two home guards, a cleric, and four others.
According to police, Bajrangi alias Rajkumar was questioned in connection with a fresh FIR registered against him and 15-20 others at Nuh’s Sadar police station based on a complaint filed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usha Kundu. A video of the arrest has gone viral on social media in which cops can be seen chasing the Bajrang Dal member.
Bajrangi is accused of giving provocative statements on social media which eventually led to violent clashes in Haryana. A video of the same was widely circulated on social media before the Yatra in Nuh.
In the viral video, Bittu Bajrangi could be heard saying, “Yeh bolenge ki bataya nahi hai hum sasural aaye aur meeting nahi huve…(they will say we didn’t inform you about our coming)… keep the flower garlands ready, brother-in-law is coming. There are 150 vehicles in total.”
A Nuh Police spokesperson said that he was arrested after the questioning and will be produced in a city court on Wednesday.
The FIR against Bajrangi and the others has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 148 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 332 (causing hurt), 353, 186 (obstructing a public servant from discharging duty), 395, 397 (armed robbery), and 506 (criminal intimidation) and provisions of the Arms Act, police said.
