The party menifesto was released by AAP chief Kejriwal on Monday in anticipation of the Delhi assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place next month.
The incumbent party of the national capital has pledged to provide youth with guaranteed employment, the ‘Mahila Samman Yojna’, and free treatment for the elderly, as stated in the menifesto. In the event that the party is elected, the menifesto also includes a 50% concession in metro fares and free transit travel for students.
“We were the first to introduce the term “guarantee” in the country.” “The BJP stole it after us, but the difference is that we fulfill our promises, while they do not,” he stated at the inauguration of the manifesto.
The manifesto contains 15 guarantees, with Kejriwal’s initial commitment to Delhi residents being the establishment of “robust” employment opportunities.
The Mahila Samman Yojana’s second guarantee guarantees women a monthly financial support of ₹2,100. Free healthcare facilities will be provided to senior citizens by the Sanjeevani Yojana.
The fifth guarantee guarantees a round-the-clock supply of pure drinking water to every household in the national capital, while the fourth guarantee waives outstanding “hiked” water bills.
A commitment to clean the polluted Yamuna River and upgrade Delhi’s infrastructure to a world-class standard is among the other significant promises.
The AAP has committed to providing scholarships to SC and ST students for their abroad studies under the Babasaheb Ambedkar Scholarship Yojana. Additionally, male pupils will receive complimentary bus rides and a 50% discount on metro fares.
The manifesto also guarantees that clerics and Gurudwara Granthis will receive ₹18,000 in monthly financial assistance, and that tenants will be granted free electricity and water.
Furthermore, AAP has pledged to enhance Delhi’s sewage system, provide financial assistance to auto and cab drivers, and issue ration certificates to those who are excluded from the system. Additionally, the party has pledged to provide insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh and ₹one lakh for the nuptials of their daughters.
Additionally, funds will be allocated to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to resolve local safety concerns and employ security guards.
The war between the BJP and AAP manifestos
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) published the third section of its manifesto for the February 5 Delhi assembly elections on Saturday. The manifesto pledges to clean the Yamuna in three years and grant ownership rights to 1,700 unauthorised colonies if elected to power.
The initial cabinet will implement free treatment for up to ₹5 lakh under the Ayushman Scheme. Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the release of the manifesto, stating that the Delhi government will provide an additional ₹5 lakh in complimentary treatment, bringing the total to ₹10 lakh.
AAP has accused the BJP of adopting its policies as the party’s election promises, a move that former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia has described as a “admission of defeat.”
The AAP manifesto is being marketed as a reaffirmation of the party’s governance philosophy, which emphasizes infrastructure and welfare enhancements.
