The resignation has come amid reports of an imminent reshuffle in the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Cabinet as departments of several ministers might be changed.
Chandigarh: Amid buzz of an imminent Cabinet reshuffle in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Fauja Singh Sarari on Saturday tendered resignation from the post of State Horticulture Minister.
According to sources, Sarari quit the minister post citing personal reasons. He, however, stressed that he is a loyal soldier of the party and will continue to be one.
It should be noted that the AAP MLA had come under fire recently following allegations of corruption levelled against him. An audio tape had gone viral on social media where Fauja Singh Sarari was purportedly talking to a close friend planning an extortion.
Sarari, however, denied the allegations and lodged a police complaint against the leaked audio. Describing the audio clip as fake, hecalled it part of a larger conspiracy.
The resignation has come amid reports of an imminent reshuffle in the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Cabinet as departments of several ministers might be changed. Presently, there is a Chief Minister and 13 ministers in the Punjab cabinet. At least four Cabinet berths are still vacant in Punjab.
Sources suggest that non-performing ministers might be shown the way out of the cabinet while there could be entry of new faces as well. Oath-ceremony of new ministers is likely to happen today at Raj Bhavan.
