Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2 was released in theatres on Thursday. The action sequel has shattered records to emerge as the biggest opener of all time. Pushpa 2 made an impressive Rs 165 crore nett on its first day in the theatres. It made Rs 10.1 crore in Telugu in Wednesday previews, which takes its total opening to Rs 175.1 crore.
Pushpa 2 made Rs 95.1 crore in Telugu, Rs 67 crore in Hindi, Rs 7 crore in Tamil, Rs 5 crore in Malayalam and Rs 1 crore in Kannada. This also makes it the highest opener in Hindi, as it has overtaken Jawan, which made Rs 65.5 crore in Hindi on its opening day. As per trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, Pushpa 2 has made approximately Rs 282.91 crore worldwide.
On the opening day, Pushpa 2 observed an overall 82.66 percent occupancy in Telugu. The film had over 1500 shows in Hyderabad with over 94 percent occupancy and over 1000 shows in Bengaluru with over 70 percent occupancy. In Hindi, the occupancy was over 59 percent on opening day. The Delhi-NCR region had over 1700 shows with 61 percent occupancy and the Mumbai region had over 1500 shows with around 57 percent occupancy.
Pushpa 2’s Rs 175 crore opening has taken it to the top spot of all-time biggest openers in India. Before this, the number one spot was held by held by SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which made Rs 133 crore nett on its opening day. This was followed by Baahubali 2, which made Rs 121 crore nett on its first day. KGF 2 and Kalki 2898 AD made Rs 116 crore nett and Rs 114 crore nett on their respective opening days.
Pushpa 2 released on Thursday, so the film will enjoy a four-day weekend, and if it actually manages to make Rs 300 crore worldwide on its opening day, the film could make close to Rs 1000 crore in its opening weekend worldwide, which has never happened before. The highest grossing Indian film of all time is Dangal, which made over Rs 2500 crore after its China release, followed by Baahubali 2, which collected Rs 1788 crore during its run.
