In a Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, security forces killed three terrorists. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to campaign in Jammu and Kashmir today.
At least three terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday morning. Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in the Chak Taper Kreeri in the Pattan area of the north Kashmir district late Friday, following which the encounter broke out.
The operation is still underway. A joint team of police and army was conducting a cordon and search operation in the area on Friday when terrorists hiding in a suspected location reportedly opened fire, prompting a retaliatory exchange of gunfire.
This comes after troops of the Rising Star Corps shot dead two terrorists in a separate encounter in Kathua. The Rising Star Corp in a post on X said the joint operation named Khandara was launched in Kathua on September 11. In the operation, troops of Rising Star Corps and Jammu and Kashmir Police neutralised two terrorists and recovered “large war-like stores” of arms and ammunition.

The encounters happened ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega-election rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. This will be the first visit by a prime minister to Doda in the last 42 years.
Multi-tier security has been deployed across the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar, particularly around the venue, to ensure a peaceful and smooth conduct of the election rally.
