A 17-year-old teen, who got trapped under the rubble on Monday, was rescued in the Turkish city of Gaziantep after almost four days.
In the wake of the devastating earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria, a 17-year-old boy, who got trapped under the rubble on Monday, was rescued after almost four days.
The teen said that while he was trapped, he “drank his own urine and ate his family’s flowers to survive”, according to a report in ABC News.
Adnan Muhammet Korkut was stuck under the debris for at least 94 hours in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. He was asleep in his family’s home when the quake hit, and he then “got into the foetal position”.
As the search for survivors carried on, Korkut said he was “hearing voices, but I was worried they couldn’t hear me”, ABC news reported.
But after four days, he was finally freed.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake has claimed more than 24,000 lives in Turkey and Syria. Victims, young and old, continue to be rescued more than 100 hours after the disaster struck, although hopes are fading for those still trapped under the rubble.
