The BJP on Monday slammed the Bihar government after Tej Pratap renamed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park to Coconut park.
The Bihar government has gone nuts over the naming of a park. It’s about the renaming of Patna’s Coconut Park to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park and then reverting to the original, Coconut Park.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar government after a park in Bihar’s Patna, named after late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was renamed Coconut Park.
Bihar’s Forest and Environment minister, Tej Pratap Yadav, renamed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park, located in Patna’s Kankarbagh, Coconut Park. The name will be
changed formally on Monday.
The park used to be called Coconut Park, but after the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2018, it was changed to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park.
However, the Bihar government has decided to change its name to the original, Coconut Park.
The BJP has criticised the Bihar government for this name change.
“On one hand, Nitish Kumar garlands the memorial of Vajpayee ji and, on the other hand, Tej Pratap Yadav has changed the name of the park. This is a two-tone government. BJP opposes this and the party demands that the name of this park not be changed,” said BJP spokesperson Arvind Kumar Singh said.
Despite the fact that the name of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park has been changed to Coconut Park, the signboard of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park is still displayed outside the park, and Vajpayee’s statue remains inside the park. No alterations have been made to these two yet.
