India squad for Asia Cup 2023: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced a solid 17-member squad for 2023 Asia Cup. Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, who are important for team India’s ODI World Cup 2023 plan, make a comeback in 50-over format. Talented youngsters Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna were also included in Asia Cup 2023 ODI squad. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed as skipper Rohit’s deputy.
“Shreyas Iyer is fully fit. – KL Rahul is carrying a niggle, but is expected to be fully fit by the 2-3rd match of the Asia Cup, if not by the first game. Both had long-term injuries. That is why Sanju is travelling. Two important players for us,” said Agarkar.

The 16th edition of Asia Cup begins on August 30, 2023 and the final match will be played on September 17, 2023. Asia Cup 2023 will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This is the first time that the Asia Cup tournament is being organized in hybrid format. This year, four Asia Cup 2023 matches will be hosted in Pakistan, while the remaining nine games will be held in Sri Lanka.
The continental tournament will feature a total of six teams — five full members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) — Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Nepal became the sixth team to qualify for 2023 Asia Cup by winning the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023.
The six teams, participating in the 50-over Asia Cup 2023 tournament, have been divided into two groups of three teams each. As per the format, a total of 13 matches, including six league matches, six Super 4 matches will be played before the final on September 17.

Group B: Sri Lanka (defending champions), Afghanistan and Bangladesh
