The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday searched three locations in Punjab’s SAS Nagar and Chandigarh of close associates of the officer on special duty (OSD) to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann in the prevention of money laundering act, officials aware of the details said.
However, there is no official communication about the persons being investigated by the federal agency.
ED seized two bags containing nearly ₹20 lakh allegedly thrown from the ninth floor of the building during a raid at a residential society, Western Towers in Kharar.
The ED officials of the central agency entered flat number 906 in Western Towers, Chajju Majra, near Kharar and took possession of the bags of cash.
“The occupants of the flat immediately threw two cash ladened bags on the ground floor. The ED officials immediately took possession of the bags and collected the scattered bundles from the spot,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the searches are underway at locations of private individuals Nitin Bansal and Bir Davinder Singh, popularly known as ‘Biroo’.
