The Phone 3 should have multiple cameras. Today, Nothing is confirming the specs of one of them. The Nothing Phone 3, which Nothing calls its first true flagship, is set to launch globally on July 1 with a 50-megapixel periscope lens. How far it can go, in other words its zoom range, remains a mystery at the time of writing.
In a teaser shared on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, Nothing revealed the Phone 3, which has a 50-megapixel periscope lens, is apparently “built for creators.” In a follow-up tweet, it shared a bunch of photos presumably shot from the Phone 3 showing off its impressive zoom – including telemacro – capability. Given that its predecessor, the Phone 2, did not have any telephoto camera, it’s a welcome upgrade though, one can’t help but be more curious about the rest of the setup. The Phone 2 had only two cameras, wide and ultrawide. It would be interesting to see if the Phone 3 has more cameras – or drops the ultrawide in favour of a telephoto.
This is now the third Phone 3 spec that Nothing has announced. Previously, it confirmed the glyph matrix layout which is set to replace its earlier glyph lights. Promo materials suggest it will be placed at one end of the phone towards the top (right adjacent to the cameras) though its exact functionality isn’t immediately clear. The other big reveal was that the Phone 3 will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is a sequel to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 promising up to 49 percent faster performance, especially in terms of GPU power. Next to the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-powered Phone 2, the gains are even higher, clocking up to 88 percent, according to Nothing cofounder and currently its India head, Akis Evangelidis.
The design is being gradually revealed which strongly points to one thing, which is that the Phone 3 will see some overhaul compared to its predecessors, but to what extent, it remains to be seen. Nothing continues to offer an inside look by throwing in screws and visual elements that come together to bring you closer to your phone, both literally and figuratively. Though, with its signature LEDs gone, fans will be interested to see where Nothing goes with Phone 3, which is launching globally and in India at the same time on July 1. Joining the Phone 3 will be Nothing’s first over-ear headphones aptly called, the Nothing Headphone 1.
