The Tangdhar-Chowkibal road was blocked by an avalanche caused by snow on Tuesday morning and 14 civilians, including a child, were trapped.
New Delhi: Indian Army personnel on Tuesday (January 18, 2022) rescued 14 civilians trapped by two avalanches on the Tangdar-Chokibal Highway in Jammu and Kashmir.
Among the civilians rescued was a critically ill heart patient.
They were then taken to a nearby army camp and given food and warmth.
The Army said in a statement that the Army’s avalanche rescue team took action immediately after receiving information from the Neelam Company operating base
along with Captain Kuljot Singh and GREF about vehicles loaded with passengers, including women, children and the elderly.
