US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated an Indian American entrepreneur, Sriram Krishnan, as the Senior White House Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence.
Krishnan, who has an impressive background in technology, will work closely with David Sacks, the White House AI and Crypto Czar, to shape and coordinate AI policy for the Donald Trump administration.
“Sriram Krishnan will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across government, including working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Krishnan has served in senior positions at tech giants, including Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook and Snap.
In his new role, Krishnan will also be working in coordination with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
Responding to the announcement, Krishnan expressed his gratitude and said, “I’m honoured to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI”.
Krishnan was born in Chennai and moved to the US after completing his graduation in India. In addition to being a tech leader, he is also a venture capitalist, podcaster, and author.
He co-hosted The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy. The podcast, which focused on various aspects of startups, earned a strong reputation in the entrepreneurial community.
In 2022, Krishnan said that he was collaborating with Elon Musk on the rebuilding of Twitter following Musk’s acquisition of the platform. It was speculated that Krishnan would be appointed as the next CEO of Twitter.
He is also said to have played a role in reconnecting former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with Elon Musk, following Musk’s nomination to the proposed Department of Government Efficiency.
